Cutting corners

I've been told on several occasions that Nintendo use cheap components in their consoles in order to turn a profit on them. Perhaps that explains this...

Closer?

(got it working - the DS didn't like the firmware on the router. And then, my ISP didn't like the settings on the upgraded firmware... I could connect to the router, but not route anywhere outside 192.168.0.1. All fixed now - requests for my DS friend code to auz(at)auzsoft(dot)net.)

I dunno.. I always heard that about Sony. I don't know the last time I had a Nintendo system break down (other than my NES being very fussy these days.. but that was bad design).

My brother has dropped his GBA on pavement. We've both dropped our DS on theh floor. I could throw my DS as hard as I can into the tree outside, allowing it to fall into the deep snow... and I'm fully confident that once it is all dried out, it'd work like a charm.

(but if this failed, I have the EB Games moron warranty)

Given you're the one who told me it was Nintendo, that seems specious.

Apart from the broken LCD display one assumes.

Besides - I was talking about components, not the lumps of plastic around them. When a device refuses to recognise the wireless device 1cm away from it and complains about range, when three other devices are already connected from further away, you have to wonder...

The LCD wouldn't break because of the awesome clamshell design. ;p

Yeah, I agree it is annoying that the DS has trouble recognizing all wireless sources but my problem was with it recognizing a total piece of trash router, so I blame the router, not the DS.
