Multiple

I don't know whether it's a consequence of the improved graphics in more modern MMOs which don't allow many opponents on screen or the slavish devotion to matching levels which means you should fight one-on-one or you're a bad person, but you don't seem to get things like this in the newer games (or you can't survive them):

Lots of them!

Yeah, it sucks, too. That was one of the big things I hated about AC2, especially when they added Olthoi. How can you take on swarms of them attacking in AC and then they all of a sudden take steroids and you can barely fend off one? (Never mind how soldiers all of a sudden became as tough as a Queen)

It's funny in a way, because AC is one game that doesn't really have AoE attacks (apart from added-later the ring spells).

That's what is so awesome about WoW's low-poly graphics.

Not really; WoW may have that capability, but the gameplay is resolutely 1-v-1, so it never happens.

I agree it tends to be more 1-v-1 when you're soloing but not always... and you don't have to solo either.

If you're not soloing in wow, you're usually in a group attacking less opponents than your party size. WoW seems specifically designed to allow you to pull single opponents, hence their “stupid” AI - for an example see http://www.auzsoft.net/vidd...

But maybe they've changed it since I left, why don't you describe (or link to), say, three situations in WoW where you are attacked by five times as many opponents or more compared your party size and:

1) the developers consider it a valid scenario - so you are earning XP for it (ie, you've not gone into Ragefire Chasm solo when everything there is grey).

2) whether your character survives is under your control.

No, there aren't many situations where an intelligent group fights five times as many oppoonents or more compared to their size.

I'd have accepted a solo situation too, but I think you're even less likely to come up with them smile

I just did the quest to get Ulgrim's Casting Stein. You get attacked by 20 or 30 low level mice. They surround you, block you and although they're only doing 1 damage a time, there's so many of them, your health goes down quickly. I found myself having to jump up on barrels to escape them as there were too many to kill.
