I'm sure someone will enjoy the new costumes, but really, if you were going to pick a game with a halfway decent costumes, CoH would have to be it. As for the PvP, I always felt it sat badly on CoH's setting - notwithstanding that level systems always throw off PvP anyway. One of my reasons for cancelling the account originally was that with just new costumes and PvP in issue 4, there wasn't really much being added to offset the repetitious combat.
To show willing though, I popped into the game this morning and had a look around. Maybe it was too early on a Saturday (since I'm on the US servers but in Yurp) but the Arena was completely devoid of players. I played through a couple of missions and the same feeling of sameness was still there: one involved clearing a ship of Nazis The Council and another involved clearing a ship of Mafioso. There was essentially no difference between the two, the names and skins of the mobs the only difference.
It's a pity really. I quite liked CoH, but they've got it in their heads that they must make all their mobs fight according to their level. Not that this is a unique line of thought - every MMOG going seems to think it's important.
(oh... bonus points for spotting the band referenced in the subject)
